zine design

This is a project I created in my Typography I class, in which we were tasked with doing the research and layout design for a zine of our own area of interest. The topic I chose to cover was web-safe fonts: how fonts used on screen came to fruition and how web-safe fonts affect web design. This page showcases a rough timeline of the design and my understanding of type and layout design from this Typography class.

Research

The research and project topic was presented in the form of a Pecha Kucha, which I attached below. Click on slides to see my notes attached to each slide.

Progress & Critique

This is a high-fidelity mockup of the layout I intended to create. The main critiques received at this stage were about typography crimes such as awkward rivers, as well as concerns about elements on the edge of the page.
